CFA Society Atlanta is a staff and volunteer-run organization and the more volunteers we have, the more we can do. So optimize your membership, heighten your visibility and network with other industry professionals by joining a committee and helping to keep the Society well-run and growing.
We are always recruiting volunteers, so follow the link above to submit a volunteer profile, or talk to Board members or Committee Chairs at one of our events. The following is an example of volunteer opportunities usually available, or let us know if we could be doing something else to increase member value. Time commitments start from as little as an hour a month or less.
Programs Committee - Identifies and secures speakers for regular programming events. Develops and manages programming geared to sub-specialties, eg private equity, fixed income, private wealth, etc. Identifies and secures speakers for Annual Forecasting Dinner.
Career Development & Mentorship Committee - Identifies popular career workshops, soft skills series, and professional development events. Also helps manage the Mentorship Program.
Diversity & Inclusion Committee - Promotes and encourages gender and ethnic diversity within local employers ensuring that diversity and inclusion is an industry imperative.
Member Engagement Committee - Sponsors new membership applicants.
Corporate Outreach Committee - Develops partnerships to attract potential new members, works to increase awareness of the CFA Charter, CFA Society Atlanta, the CFA Institute, and its initiatives in the Atlanta financial community. Committee members will be engaging with HR directors and CIOs at relevant organizations, arranging special events, and other projects.
Research Challenge Host Committee - Coordinates the annual Southern Classic Research Challenge (Atlanta, Alabama, and South Carolina). This involves securing the Universities, the public company to be analyzed, finding and assigning team mentors, report graders, oral presentation judges, and arranging everything associated with the success of the final competition.
Education & University Outreach Committee - Develops relationships with a growing list of Universities in Georgia in order to familiarize students with CFA Society Atlanta, Research Challenge, Ethics Challenge, CFA program, and other CFA Institute designations, School Champions Program, Scholarship Review. Additional people are also needed to go into classrooms and talk to students about their jobs in the investment industry.
Volunteer Committee - Recruits and manages volunteer engagement.
Governance Committee - Responsible for reviewing the governance structures and practices of the organization.
