    Dr. Wilford holds the Frank W. Hipp Chair in Finance at The Citadel and is a member of the investment committee and a Managing Director of EQA Partners, a Connecticut based hedge fund specializing in global asset allocation activities. Most recently, he was chairman of the Advisory Board of Beauchamp Financial Technology and a founder of Hamilton Investment Partners. He was also the chief investment officer and a member of the board of directors of CDC Investment Management. Previously, Dr. Wilford was the chief investment officer of Bankers Trust’s Private Bank and managing director of Bankers Trust’s Global Investment Management operations. Prior to that, he was managing director of Chase Manhattan Bank, where he managed the Portfolio Strategies Group and chaired the Investment Committee in London. His group created the first delivered portfolio swap, designed to provide effective risk diversification for liquidity and effective asset management. Dr. Wilford also directed Chase’s global commodity risk management and European index-linked derivative products businesses. He also was an economist with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and chief international fixed-income strategist for Drexel Burnham Lambert in London.

    Dr. Wilford's articles have appeared in several research journals, including the American Economic Review and the Journal of Finance, and he is the author and editor of several books on topics ranging from economic policy in developing countries to financial risk management. He has served as a faculty member at several universities, including New York University, L’Université de Saint-Louis in Brussels, Belgium, and the University of New Orleans. Dr. Wilford was honorary professor of finance at the City University of London and adjunct professor of finance at the College of Charleston. He holds an MS from Vanderbilt and a PhD in economics from Tulane University.

    The Big Issues that Drive Global Monetary Policy in History and Today
    This presentation analyzes the global monetary and trading systems that have dominated considering the Gold Standard, Bretton Woods, and today’s system of “independent monetary authorities” in a world of democratic decision making. It focuses on demographic changes and how they drive decisions over time and the implications of those decisions on investments, real rates of return, foreign exchange rates, interest rates, and bond prices. With today’s interest in the Baby Boomers and their bubble, this presentation takes a global view of this analysis and delves into history to understand the relative implications of changing populations trends
